Finding Peace
Description
“Peace to people on earth!” What a wonderful message was proclaimed to humankind at the birth of Jesus Christ. But what does this peace mean? Most of us think we have peace when there is no war, when our external circumstances are calm, when we are not in conflict with others, when we are free of troubles. Yet this is merely a transient peace, which can be shattered from one day to the next. Christ did not bring humankind peace “as the world gives it” (John 14:27), but rather spiritual peace – the peace that leads to God, to true blessedness. This issue of The Spiritual World presents a broad overview of Christian spiritual teaching, illustrating the difference between earthly peace and spiritual peace. It explains the cause and meaning of our existence and sheds light on why so many people have to endure difficult lives. It emphasizes the need for spiritually strengthened people, who can help ease hardship and be a blessing to others. This issue also makes it clear that no one should have to fear death, but should instead look forward to what awaits them.
