The lectures and explanations in this issue were given by spirit-teacher Joseph in 1956 and shed light on the great significance of freedom in thought and will. They are set against the backdrop of ongoing developments at that time: the fight for freedom of many nations during this period, as seen particularly in the European states under the control of the Soviet Union, specifically in Hungary, as well as in numerous colonies in Africa and Asia. One lecture demonstrates that the fight for freedom first takes place in spirit and that human beings, too, can collaborate in this spiritual battle – namely, during sleep, when the human spirit is released from the earthly body and is able to carry out related tasks in the world beyond. In another lecture, spirit-teacher Joseph reports on his personal observations of the Hungarian people’s fight against Soviet foreign rule in the autumn of 1956. He tells of a fallen freedom fighter who, now as a spirit being, returns to the field of battle with the desire to help his comrades.
